Who is the best tennis player of all time?

This is question that most of us would have a hard time agreeing upon. There are so many impeccable players out there (and so many metrics to consider) that its nigh on impossible to pick just one reigning champ. That said, there are a few names that typically fall off the tongue when discussing the greatest Tennis player of all time. Who is the best tennis player of all time?

No one can disregard the prowess of the Queen of the Court, Serena Williams and anyone having a bonafide, intelligent conversation about the greatest tennis players of all time would be crazy not to include her. Seriously though, when was the last time you played Wimbledon EVER, let alone less than a year after giving birth? Thought so.

Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal also naturally spring to mind with each having won 50 or more Big Titles and having played in well over 1000 matches each. Novak Djokavic, while having played and won fewer matches, still comes in a close third in titles and has a younger career than these two veterans.

Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Pete Sampras, Billie Jean King, Rod Laver, Fred Emerson, Martina Navratilova and Bjorn Borg should also be given special mention here. While this author sticks to her guns in backing the first four players mentioned, the list and argument would not be complete without these seven stars.

And while UK players haven’t topped the champion’s list for a while, there are two names that it would be remiss to not mention: Fred Perry and Andy Murray have done more for British Tennis than most other players combined. Greatest of all time? Perhaps not quite, but legendary players nonetheless that warrant due mention.

Who do you think reigns supreme in the Tennis world?
